| Here are a few tips to help keep you comfortable and safe while getting the most from your day on the water. * Dress for the weather: If it is warm out you will only get warmer and yes, if it is cold out you will get colder. It will be windy on the boat, keep that in mind! Summer (April- Oct): Hat, sunscreen (30 SPF or better), Insect repellent (with DEET ), lose fitting light color clothing that is able to cover arms, legs & neck (light colors help keep you cool and don't attract as many mosquitoes). I know, you want a tan, trust me you will have plenty of opportunities for that, I too am a "sun worshiper" . But if you don't have cover you will burn before you realize what has happened. If it is a bad burn, even on a small area you may not be able to hit the beach for several days. Face it, in the hotel room with sunburn cream on for the rest of the vacation is nobodies idea of fun! Winter(Nov.- March): Hat, sunscreen (30 SPF or better), Layers of clothing work best on cool days. You may laugh at this one once you arrive. You'll see me at the dock bundled up from head to toe on a balmy 45 degree morning... You'll say... "Why, when we left __(insert city)__ it was only ___(insert REALLY cold temp.)___ and I was wearing a T-shirt" I'll say " I really recommend you bring at least a jacket" and if you don't heed the warning I will likely see you suffering in silence as the cold wet air drains the warmth from the marrow of your bones... Well, maybe not that bad but you get lots cooler on the water, trust me. Other recommendations: Sunglasses (Polarized glasses, brown work best) Soft soled shoes Cameras!! Bathing suit & towel for full day trips Snacks & favorite beverages |
